Director

Alan Shelley is a Cape Town based filmmaker who thinks swagg should be spelt with two g’s, otherwise what's the point of having any? On to the braggy stuff, Alan was the inaugural winner of the Jameson First Shot competition in 2012 and in the same year he Co-Directed a film for the 48 Hour Film Project (48HFP) which placed 3rd in the whole world, which he’s quite proud of. Since 2013, Alan has worked at benchfilms, a Cape Town based production company that shouldn’t be left open around bees. At benchfilms, Alan has written and directed over 30 branded films and a number of shorts films including the SAFTA winning Picture Perfect Heist (written by Brent Palmer). Among other things, benchfilms now coordinates the Cape Town version of the 48HFP which takes place annually and invites filmmakers in the city to produce a film in 48 hours.
